Soo Indians spring evaluation camp 

The Soo Indians AAA Hockey Club will be holding and evaluation camp April 26th thru April 28th at the Big Bear Arena in Sault Ste Marie, Mi.  Ice time will be as follows:

Friday April 26th registration will be from 3-6 pm and ice time from 6-730pm on the Olympic rink.

Saturday April 27th ice time from 1045am-1215pm and 430-6pm on the NHL rink.

Sunday April 28th ice time from 1015am-1145am on the NHL rink.

Cost of the camp will be $125, interested players should contact Dan Lasley @ 906-322-1143.

Indians finish the regular season with a pair of wins over Soo Jr. Greyhounds

The Indians completed regular season play against the Soo Jr. Greyhounds winning 3-0 in the first game with Nathan Maguire getting the shutout in net, then in the rematch they topped them 6-2 with Deven Jones-Macdonald getting the hattrick leading the Indians to the win.

The Indians now prepare to head to Taylor Michigan for the Michigan Amatuer State Championship at the Taylor Sportplex in Detroit.  The Indians first game will be against Biggby Coffee at 745pm on Feb 29, the following game of pool play will be against Fox Motors at 145pm March 1st, and conclude March 2nd at 8pm against the Oakland Grizzilies.  Any remaining games for the playoffs will be determined by the outcome of the pool games.

Indians drop 3 games at the MAHA Tier 1 Showcase

The Indians played tough at the MAHA Tier 1 Showcase at Troy over the weekend.  Friday the Indians took on Little Caesars falling 3-0 on 3 powerplay goals against them.  Isiah Anderson played tough in net the for the Indians.  Saturday the Indians took on the highly rank Victory Honda team and lost 6-1 as they capitalized on their opportunities and the Indians only scored one goal by Jordan Murray from Dominic Cicco for a final score of 6-1.  Nathan Maguire turned away 35 shots in a loosing effort.  The Final game of the weekend had the Indians up against Biggby Coffee.  Biggby jumped out to the early lead 3-0 before Carter Huckson scored from Tyler Neveau to cut the lead, then with the Indians killing a 5 on 3 power play Tyler Neveau picked on a pass to go on a breakaway scoring to cut the lead to one goal.  The Indians continued to fight back as Treyce Moran scored on a nice three pass from Carter Huckson and Deven Jones-MacDonald to even the score at 3 a piece, however Biggby regained the lead with three minutes remaining on the power play to take the game 4-3.  Isiah Anderson played excellent in a loosing effort.

The Indians will get back on the road the weekend to Troy for 2 more league games against the Oakland Jr Grizzilies before the Christmas break.

Indians get two wins against St. Cecile Prep

Saturday game started quick as Jordan Murray scored 30 seconds into the game, assisted by Dominic Cicco to give the Indians the early lead.  Late in the first St. Cecile scored to even the score 1-1 through the first period, early in second Murray added another from Carter Huckson and Deven Jones-McDonald to regain the lead and Treyce Moran added to the Indians lead from Cicco on a shorthanded goal for a 3-1 lead through two periods.  The third period saw Murray add his third of the game (Hat Trick) from Evan Hoglund and Cicco, then Deven Jones-McDonald added the fifth goal from Carter Huckson for the 5-1 lead.  However late the period the Indians ran into penalty trouble allowing St. Cecile to play 6-3 with their net empty scoring two goals in the last two minutes for a final score of 5-3.  Nathan Maguire stood tall in the net for Indians securing the win.

In Sundays game it was Evan Hoglund who split their defense and beat the St Cecile netminder for the lead which lasted through the first period.  In the second period  the Indians added 4 unanswered goals, first Dominic Cicco scored from Jordan Murray,  Sam Swintek scored on shot from the point from Carter Huckson and Deven Jones-McDonald, Hoglund added his second of the game from Tyler Neveau and Hoglund would get his third of the game (Hat Trick) from Cicco for a 5-0 lead going into the third period.  The Indians continued to score as Wyatt Fisher banged home a rebound from Treyce Moran and Jaxon Jara, then Carter Huckson scored from Jones-McDonald and Moran to close out the scoring for the Indians.  St. Cecile did get on the board late the period for a final score of 7-1.  Isaih Anderson had the duties between the pipes earning the win.

The Indians will get in league play next weekend as they faceoff against 4pm Saturday and 10am Sunday at the Taffy Abel Arena.

Indians split on the road in Detroit

This past weekend the Indians traveled to Detroit to take on Compuware and Belle Tire in League action.  Saturday the Indians came out victorious with a 3-2 overtime win against Compuware at USA Arena in Plymouth, on Sunday the Indians came up short falling to Belle Tire 8-1. 

Next action is back at home this coming weekend when they will take on St. Cecile Prep from Windsor Ontario in two exhibition games.  Saturday will be at the Pullar Staduim 4pm and Sunday 10am at the Taffy Abel Arena
