Indians sweep Honeybaked in MAHA league action

In the opening game of the weekend series the Indians jumped out to early lead on a shorthanded goal by Domonic Cicco in the first period, then Jordan Murray scored to put the Indians up 2-0 at the end of the period.  In the second Marco Beaubien put a rebound home home for 3-0 which they carried into the third period, however in the third Honeybaked got on the board and added a second goal to get within one goal.  The rest of the game Honeybaked pressed hard but Nathan Maguire stood tall in net shutting the door and securing the win for the Indians 3-2.

On Sunday both teams battled back and forth throughout the first two periods, but in the third Deven Jones-McDonald found a loose puck in front of the net and buried it for the lead, assisted by Treyce Moran and Evan Hoglund.  Honeybaked answered back with 4 minutes remaining to even the score sending the game into overtime.  In the 4 on 4 5 minute overtime both teams traded scoring opportunities but with 38 second remaining Jones-McDonald stole the puck off the boards and stepped to the middle and beat the Honeybaked netminder for his second of the game to give the Indians the win.  Isiah Anderson played outstanding net to earn the win.

Next action for the Indians will be Saturday 3pm at the Pullar Staduim and a rematch 10am Sunday at the Taffy Abel Arena.

Indians split with Little Caesars

The second game of the weekend series saw Little Caesars jump out to an early lead, however Jordan Murray banged home a rebound, assisted by Evan Hoglund and Dominic Cicco to even the score at 1-1.  From that point on the Indians could get one past their netminder and they capitalized on 4 more to take the win 5-1.  Isiah Anderson played excellent in the net in a losing effort.

The Indians return home to play Honeybaked 5pm Saturday and 10am Sunday at the Taffy Abel Arena.

Indians down Little Caesars 6-1

In the opening game of the weekend series against Little Caesars pizza makers opened the scoring midway through the first period, but Dominic Cicco even the score late in the period from Evan Hoglund and Jordan Murray. Early in the second Cicco scored his second goal of the game from Aedan Haapala and Murray, then with 2:44 remaining the in the period Cicco scored his third of the game (Hattrick) from Tyler Neveau and Sam Swintek to put the Indians up 3-1 going into the third period.  In the third Deven Jones-McDonald scored from Marco Beaubien and Carter Huckson, Hoglund added another goal in the third from Murray and Lake Pawlanta for a 5-1 lead and Jones-McDonald added his second of the game from Carter Huckson and Treyce Moran for a final score of 6-1.  Nathan Maguire play exceptional between the pipe to earn the win.

Both teams will return to action tomorrow 2pm at the Little Caesars Arena for the second game of the weekend series.

Indians fall In a shoot out to Compuware

Sundays rematch saw a much different game as Evan Hoglund scored early in first period from Dominic Cicco to take the early lead however Compuware came back and answered to even the score at 1-1.  Both teams played even  throughout the rest of the game sending it into overtime.  5 minutes in overtime couldn't decided a winner and it took six shooters to decide the fate of the game for the Ambassadors 2-1.

The Indians head back on the road next weekend to Detroit to play Little Caesars next Saturday and Sunday.

Indians top Compuware 6-1

In Saturday nights opening game of the MAHA series the Indians came out quick as Carter Huckson scored on a backhand shot early in the first period from Tyler Neveau and Sam Swintek to take the early lead.  Three minutes later Aedan Haapala capatilized on an Indian power play threading a shot from the point past their netminder for the two goal lead, assisted by Carter Huckson, the Indians weren't done scoring as Jordan Murray found the net from Lake Pawlanta to give the Indians a 3-0 lead at the end of the first period.  In the second period Evan Hoglund stole the puck at center ice and went in to beat the Ambassadors goalie on a shot unassisted.  Compuware scored midway through the period to get on the board, but Deven Jones-McDonald buried a shot on passes from Huckson and Treyce Moran for the 5th goal of the game.  In the third Dominic Cicco scored the only goal of the period banging home a rebound off a shot by Murray to give the Indians the 6-1 lead which they carried to the end of the game.  Isiah Anderson played excellent in net to earn the win for the Indians.

Both teams will return to the ice Sunday morning 10am at the Taffy Abel arena.  The game will be streamed live on youtube at Soo Indians Midget AAA.
