Indians fall to the Oakland Jr. Grizzilies

The second game of the MAHA Showcase pitted the Indians against the Oakland Jr. Grizzilies.  Both teams battle thru the first period to a 0-0 tie, midway through the second Oakland managed to get on the board jumping out to the 1-0 lead which they carried into the third period.  Earlier in the third period the Grizzilies capitalized on a power play to go up two.  The Indians pressured hard in the third period hitting a post and battling around the Oakland net, however couldn't get it past their netminder falling 2-0.  Nathan Maguire played outstanding in the net for the Indians.

Next action for the Indians will be Sunday morning at 8 am against the Chicago Mission.

Indians shut out Compuware in the MAHA showcase

The Indians topped Compuware 3-0 in the opening game of the MAHA Tier 1 showcase.  Deven Jones-McDonald opened the scoring in the first period from Connor Carlson and Jarret Crimin to put the Indians up 1-0 in the first period.  Late in the second period Jones-McDonald picked off and clearing pass from Compuware goalie, scoring to add to a 2-0 lead through two periods.  In the third the Indians finished the scoring as Treyce Moran set up Carter Huckson in the slot who beat their netminder for a 3-0 lead late in the third period.  Nathan Maguire stood tall in the net turning all shots sent his was for the shut out win in net.  The Indians will be back in action at 230 Saturday against the Oakland Grizzilies.

Indians complete the sweep over Green Bay

The Sunday morning rematch saw the Indians come quick scoring 4 unanswered goals in the first period.  Evan Hoglund scored his first of two from Deven Jones-McDonald and Jordan Murray, then added his second of the game from Jones-McDonald and Murray to go up two.  Wyatt Fischer added another goal from Treyce Moran and Carter Huckson.  Murray added a goal of his own from Hoglund and Jones-McDonald to round out the scoring in the first period up 4-0.  The second period saw Green Bay capitalize on a powerplay to get on the board.  Jones-McDonald added the fifth goal of the game for the Indians from Hoglund and Murray to close out the scoring.  Isiah Anderson turned away 25 of 26 shots sent his way to earn the 5-1 win in net.

The Indians will now head to Detroit on Friday morning to compete at the MAHA Tier 1 showcase in Troy to start league action.  Friday night at 8pm they will face the Oakland Grizzilies, then Saturday at 230 against the Compuware Ambassadors.  The final game will be Sunday Morning 8am against the Chicago Mission.

Indians open the 2023-24 season with a 5-3 win

The Indians opened the 2023-24 season Saturday playing the Green Bay Bobcats.  Green Bay drew first blood midway through the first period to take an early lead, but Treyce Moran evened the score after being set up by Marco Beaubien and Carter Huckson, then less a minute later Beaubien scored from Carson Unger and Jaxon Jara to give the Indians a 2-1 lead at the end of the first period.  In the second the Indians pressured the Bobcats but the only goal of the period came from a stretch pass from Aedan Haapala to Deven Jones-McDonald to send him in a breakaway to score giving the Indians a 3-1 lead through 2 periods.  The Indians opened the third period scoring early as Wyatt Fischer scored from Moran and Tyler Neveau and at the 9 minute Mark Jordan Murray scored from Haapala for a 5-1 lead.  Green Bay didn't quit and came back to score a powerplay goal and then late in the period with their net empty scored a third goal.  However Nathan Maguire shut the door from that point to preserve the 5-3 win turning away 25 shots.

Both teams will be back in action Sunday morning at the Taffy Abel Arena 10am.

Soo Indians Open vs. Green Bay for the 2023-2024 Season

The Soo Indians AAA will be hosting Green Bay this weekend.  Coach Nick Glander (Soo Indians Jr. A Alumni) and his squad will be in town to start the season.  Games will be at the Taffy Abel Arena.  Saturday, September 3, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, September 4, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. 

Coach Ferroni is excited to start the season and get the team rolling for the 2023-2024 season.
