Castillo’s late goal secures the weekend sweep for the Indians

Sunday mornings game proved to be a tight checking game as neither team could score in first period, in the second the Spartans got on the board banging home a rebound in front of the Indians net for the early lead.  Both teams exchanged scoring chances throughout the second period with no luck, in the third with six minutes remaining Grant Wickham took a pass from Logan Millhausen and Alex Gordon on the right wing and beat the Spartan netminder to even the game a one goal a piece.  With seconds ticking down Nick Castillo took a pass at center ice from Wickham and went in on his backhand and beat their netminder over the shoulder with 22 seconds remaining for eventual game winning goal.  Gabe Rosek turned away 20 shots to preserve the win for the Indians who now sit with a 7 win 4 loss record early in the season.

Next action will have the Indians back on the road to Detroit for the Motor City Showcase, with their first game against Gilmour Prep Academy Friday night.  Saturday games will see them face Team Indiana and Colorado Tigers, finishing Sunday against the Sylvania Northstars.
