Indians split on the road with the Cleveland Barons

 

Saturday night the Indians came off the bus and opened up quickly scoring two goals in the first period.  Will Boyer opened the scoring splitting the defense and beating the goaltender on pass from Bryce Grandbois, then Colin Goff beat the netminder on a shot, set up by Ethan Lindle.  In the second period Boyer added his second of the game from Grandbois and Robbie Landis, Goff then added his second of the game from Lindle and Colin Handy.  The Barons got on the board in the second period with two goals and the Indians took a 4-2 Lead into the third period.  The third period saw Bryce Grandbois score the his first of his two goals, one set up by Landis and Jack Mathias and his second from Cole Peterson and Colin Handy, the Barons added one goal, however Logan Raffaele secured the 6-3 win in net.

Sunday saw Cleveland jump out to an early lead before Robbie Zimmerman scored from Bryce Orouke and Kyle Stevens, then Will Boyer put the Indians up by one goal from Bryce Grandbois.  Cleveland evened the score early in the second period then added one more to take a 3-2 lead into the third period.  The Indians had several opportunities however the Barons added two more goals on the power play to secure and 5-2 win.  Lucas Henderson took the loss in net for the Indians.

The Indians will be back in action next weekend when they travel to Detroit to take on the Oakland Jr Grizzilies Friday night and then Victory Honda on Saturday and Sunday.

Indians blank Caesars for the weekend Sweep

Saturday in the first game of the two game series of MAHA League play the Indians jumped out an early lead when Jack Mattais took a pass from Connor McAleer and went to beat the Little Caesars goaltender over his should.  From that point both teams played even throughout the second period until early in the third period when Drew Miotke scored on power play to give the Indians a two goal lead.  Logan Raffaele stood tall in net turning away all 25 shots sent his way to secure the win and preserve the shut out from that point on.

Sunday saw the Indians score first midway through the first period when Colin Handy's shot found it way from the point to the back of the net to put the Indians up one.  In the second period the Indians added two more goals to the lead, first Colin Goff brought the puck off the wall and beat the netminder from Robbie Zimmerman and Rob Landis, then Will Boyer added to the lead on a nice one time shot over the Caesars goalie from Goff and Handy sending the Indians into the third period up 3-0.  In the third Bryce Grandbois got on the board from Dylan Szabo and Ethan Lindle for the fourth and final goal of the game.  Logan Raffaele turned away all shots sent his way securing the win and his second shut out of the weekend.

The Indians will return to action November 28th and 29th 5pm Saturday and 10am Sunday when they will take on Meijer AAA out of Lansing at the Taffy Able Arena.

Indians are looking for a goalie

Due to a season ending injury to one of our goalies the Indians are looking for a goalie with AAA experience.  If you are interested and would like to play at this level contact Rick Corbiere at 906-322-2070.

Indians battle through two tough games with Compuware during the weekend

This weekend saw action resume at home for the Indians in MAHA Tier 1 play as the Compuware Ambassadors were in town for the league games at the Taffy Abel Arena.  On Saturday night Compuware jumped out to 2-0 lead through the first period before the Indians got back within one goal in the second period as Drew Miotke banged home a pass from Colin Goff, then less than a minute later Ethan Lindle found a lose puck in front of the Ambassadors net putting it home for the tying goal, assisted by Moitke and Goff.  Late in the second the Indians took the lead on shot from the point by Eli Doughardt-Wood, set up by Goff and Peter Pawlanta.  Late in the second Compuware got the tying goal and both teams played even throughout the third to send the game into overtime.  In overtime both teams traded opportunities in end to end action but with 1:45 remaining the Ambassadors scored to take the overtime win in game one of the series.

On Sunday morning both teams faced off again with Compuware jumping out to an early lead in the first period, then adding a second early in the third before Eli Doughardt-Wood scored on a power play from Dylan Bott and Connor Mcaleer to get within one.  The Indians pressed had for the remainder of the game but couldn't get anything in the net and fell 2-1.  Logan Raffaele played outstanding in both games for the Indians in net.

The Indians will be at home this coming weekend November 14 and 15 as they take on Little Caesars 5pm Saturday night and 10am Sunday morning at the Taffy Abel Arena in two more MAHA Tier 1 league games.  Fans are welcome but must wear facemasks and adhere to social distancing guidelines.

Indians down Honeybaked then fall on Sunday in a Shootout

This weekend the Indians traveled to Farmington HIlls to take on Honeybaked in MAHA league action.  Saturday the Indians set the tone early in the first period when Dylan Szabo found a lose puck in front of the Honeybaked net and made no mistake putting it in for the 1-0 lead.  In the second Eli Doughardt-Wood joined the rush and put home a rebound on a shot by Bryce Grandbois, also assisted by Jack Mattais, to go up 2-0 midway through the second period.  Drew Miotke got on the board for the 3rd Indians goal set up by Grandbois and Mattais.  In the third Will Boyer took a pass from Mattais and broke in on the net beating their netminder for the 3-0 lead, then Miotke stole the puck while on a penalty kill and set up Colin Goff for a short handed goal.  Honeybaked managed to break the shutout late in the third, however Michael Szlag converted on a nice three way pass from Szabo and Robbie Zimmerman and Bryce Grandbois completed the scoring from Boyer and Colin Handy to solidly the 7-1 win.  Logan Raffaele took the win in net.

On Sunday things started the same as Dylan Szabo scored from Robbie Zimmerman and Michael Szlag, however Honeybaked came  back to the even the score midway through the second period.  Late in the second Colin Goff scored his second shorthanded goal of the weekend to put the Indians up 2-1 heading into the third period, Dylan Bott had the assist on the goal.  Honeybaked evened the score at 2 midway through the period and from that point on neither team could capitalize on their chances for the winning goal.  Overtime played out the same and the game was decided in a shoot out with Honeybaked scoring two and the Indians only one.  Logan Raffaele played excellent in a losing effort.

The Indians return to the Taffy Abel Arena next weekend to take on Compuware, Saturday at 5pm and Sunday at 10am.
