Indians complete the sweep over the Lansing Capitals with a 7-3 win

On Sunday morning the Indians came to play right from the drop of the puck, early into the first period Chris Hazen made a nice pass out Mike Miller who buried a shot past the Capitals goalie for the first goal of the period.  Landon Hubbard followed up scoring on a rebound assisted by Triston Theriot and Brenden MacLaren for the second goal, then John Pesek picked up a puck in the neutral zone and went down beating the Caps defenseman and the goalie to put the Indians up 3-0.  They weren't done yet and Ashton Calder won the battle in front of their net and banged home the puck for the final goal of the period.  In the second period the Indians were forced to kill several penalties and the Capitals converted on two of their powerplays to get back within two goals.  After killing off the penalties the Indians converted on a powerplay of their own when Kyle Yates put a shot from the point through traffic and the Capitals goalie assisted by Pesek and Cole Lussier and the teams went to the dressing room at the end of 2 periods with Indians up 5-2.  To start the third period the Indians got caught napping and the Capitals scored 23 seconds in to get back within two, after that they got back to work and MacLaren scored on a pass from Brendan Miller, two minutes later Lussier finished the scoring on a nice pass from Blake Mastaw.  CJ Boothe played outstanding making 35 saves in the net for the win.

The Indians travel to Sarnia Ontario on Thursday January 15 to compete in the Silver Sticks Hockey tournament.
