Indians sign one more forward for the 2023-24 season

The Indians are happy to announce the signing of forward Deven Jones-MacDonald, Deven is a 2007 birth year that stands 6'2" 185 pounds.  The left handed forward brings strength, skill and scoring touch to the team as he put up 27 points in 28 games last season.  Deven is a 11th round pick of the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League.

The Indians are continuing to assemble their roster for the upcoming season as they will compete in Tier 1 Hockey Federation League along with the Michigan Amatuer Tier 1 League for a State Championship and a bid to the USA National tournament.

Indians make several early commitments for the 2023-24 Season

Indians make several early commitments for the upcoming 2023-24 season.

The Indians have signed:
  • Sam Swintek a 2006, 6’ 3”, 190 pound righthanded defenseman with hard shot, good vision on the ice and a strong physical presence.
  • Tyler Neveau a 2007, 5’9”, 150 pound lefthanded defenseman who is an excellent skater with exceptional playmaking abilities.
  • Lake Pawlanta a 2006, 6’2”, 165 pound lefthanded defenseman that has the ability to defend well along being an offensive threat to jump up into the rush.
  • Carter Huckson a 2007, 5’9”, 160 pound righthanded forward who has a relentless forecheck with above average playmaking abilities and scoring touch around the net.
  • Conner Carlson a 2007, 5’10”, 160 pound lefthanded forward who will add grit and a good scoring touch around the net.
  • Konnor White a 2005, 6’1”, 185 pound righthanded forward with excellent scoring touch and playmaking ability.
  • Nathan Maguire a 2007, 6’, 160 pound goaltender Nathan has excellent mechanics and a relentless work ethic and a 7th round pick of the Flint Firebirds of the Ontario Hockey League.

 

Returning Players:

The players mentioned above will join Aiden Haapala, Ethan Chambers, Evan Hoglund, Treyce Moran, Jared Crimin and Dominic Cicco from the 2022-23 season.

Calder makes his Pro debut

Ashton Calder a Soo Indians alumni and Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan native made his professional hockey debut on April 5th with the Florida Everblades of the East Coast Hockey League.  Ashton played with the Indians two seasons before embarking on his Junior career, where he played in the NAHL, BCHL and finishing with the Lincoln Stars of the USHL.  He played five seasons at the NCAA level, three at Lake Superior State University, one at North Dakota, and Finishing at Penn State University.  At the Collegiate level he appeared in 179 games, scoring 54 goals and adding 63 assists for 117 points.  The entire Indians staff wish Ashton best of luck as he continues his hockey career.

Three Indians make commitments for the upcoming 2023 Season

Brayden Grange Tenders with the North Iowa Bulls of the North American Hockey League


Grange a native of Marquette Michigan competed in 30 games scoring 12 goals and 16 assists for 28 points, Brayden possesses great skill with the puck along with being an exceptional skater as an defenseman.  

 

Owen Hendrikson St. Cloud Norsemen of the North American Hockey League

 

Owen a native of Rosemount Minnesota played 27 games scoring 5 goals and 13 assists for 18 points.  Owen is an exceptional player and skater who has the ability to escape pressure and make the pass with his vision for the ice.

 

Gabe Fisher signs with the Brockville Braves of the Central Canada Hockey League

 

Gabe a native of Deerfield Illinois played two seasons with the Indians competing in 87 games scoring 12 goals and 26 assists for 38 points.  Gabe is an excellent skater with a heavy shot and physical presence on the ice.
