Indians top the Toronto Young Nationals 3-0

In a must win game the Brendan Miller opened the scoring for the Indians in the first period from Zach Ahola and Jonathon Bostwick, both teams played even in the second period.  Early in the third Brenden MacLaren got on the board, from Spencer DenBeste and Ethan St.Germain to make it 2-0, then at the 5:30 mark Tiger Weber scored on a power play from Anthony Harris and Ahola.  Will Hartwick Stopped all the shots he faced to solidfy his second shut out of the tournament.
The Indians will now move on to the semi finals of the tournament later tonight.  The Indians will now face the Toronto RedWings at 7:30 tonight.

DenBeste scores three to lead the Indians over the Niagra North Stars 5-2

Early in the first period Spencer DenBeste opened the scoring for the Indians with assists going to Brenden MacLaren and Anthony Harris.  Later in the first period MacLaren got one of his own from Nick Skaluba, then at the 7:37 mark of the second DenBeste scored his second of the game from MacLaren.  Late in the second period Ethan St.Germain lit the lamp from MacLaren and DenBeste, and with 41 seconds remaining DenBeste knotched his hat trick form St.Germain and Drew Goupille.  Will Hartwick was the winning goalie for the Indians only allowing two goals.

The Indians will finish round robin play tomorrow against the Toronto Young Nationals at 2pm.

Indians fall to York Simcoe 3-2 in overtime

In the second game of the Big Nickel Tournament the Indians faced off against the York Simcoe Express falling 3-2 in overtime.  Brendan Miller and Kalvin Hillock had goals for the Indians whille Drew Goupille had two assists and Brenden MacLaren had one.  Shaun Brown was between the pipes in a losing effort.

 

The third game of the tournament will be against the Niagra North Stars at 930 pm tonight.

Indians top Richmond Hills 4-0 in the opening game of the Big Nickel tournament

The Indians opened quickly in the first period scoring 3 goals, Brenden MacLaren opened the scoring on a shorthanded goal from Spencer DenBeste, less than two minutes later Denbeste scored from MacLaren and Justin Hendrickson.  With less than a minute remain in the first period Denbeste scored his second of the game unassisted shorthanded again to take 3-0 lead at the end of the first period.  Both teams played even in the second period and midway through the third DenBeste scored his third of the game from Anthony Harris to solidify the win.  DenBeste finished with four points on the night while Will Hartwick earned the shutout in net for the Indians.
Indians now face the York Simcoe Exspress tomorrow at 2pm.

Indians down the Rhino's 8-2

Indians scored early and often to take an 8-2 win over the Kalkaska Rhino's.  In the first period Brenden MacLaren opened the scoring from Brendan Miller and Drew Goupille, the Spencer DenBeste added to the lead from MacLaren for 2-0 lead through one period.  In the second Nick Skaluba opened the second period from MacLaren and DenBeste, 3 minutes later Skaluba scored his second from Jake Smith.  MacLaren added his second of the night from Skaluba and Ethan St.Germain to put the Indians up 5-0 before the Rhino's found the net for their first goal on a powerplay.  The Indians got back on the scoring ways when Zack Lasley scored from St.Germain and Aaron Shahin, Jonathon Bostwick ended the scoring in the second period from DenBeste and Anthony Harris to send the Indians to the dressing room up 7-1.  The Indians added one more goal in the third when Bostwick added his second on the night from DenBeste and MacLaren.  The Rhino's added a goal late in the third period and game ended 8-2 in favor of the Indians.  Shaun Brown and Will Hartwick split the duties in the net for the win.
The Indians will be off this weekend before they travel to Sudbury Ontario next Thursday for the Big Nickel Tournament.
