Indians compete in three games at the MAHA Tier 1 Showcase

Friday the Indians opened the MAHA Tier 1 Showcase against Honeybaked falling 5-1. Honeybaked scored 5 unanswered goals before Sabre Koleber scored the only goal for the Indians from Gabe Fisher and Caden McDonald early in the third, but that was all they could muster.  Justin Bamberger had the duties in net for the game.

Saturday the Indians met up with Biggby coffee for the second game of the Showcase and Biggby got on the board first midway through the period, however Jack Jimenez evened the score late in the period from Owen Hendrikson and Zach Sweitzer.  In the second it was all Biggby as they scored 5 goals taking a 6-1 lead into the third period, Luke Jimenez added an unassisted goal in the third period for a final score of 6-2.  Cam Labadie was in the net.

Sunday it was Victory Honda as the opponent and they again scored the first goal, but Jack Jimenez scored his second goal of the weekend from Owen Hendrikson and Brayden Grange to even things up, then Gabe Fisher scored on a shot from the point assisted by Evan Hoglund and Dominick Cicco to give the Indians the lead.  Early in the second period Drew Dellies added to the Indians lead on a nice pass from Hendrikson, but Honda scored one of their own late in the period to get back within one goal.  Early in the third period Lucca Weinkauf won the battle along the boards and fed Kyle Stevens for a breakaway and he capitalized giving the Indians a two goal lead again.  Late in the third period the Indians where assessed three penalties and Victory Honda scored on two sending the game into overtime.  In overtime the Indians were again assessed another penalty giving Honda the 4 on 3 advantage which they again capitalized on give them the 5-4 win.  Justin Bamberger had the duties between the pipes for the Indians.

The Indians now return home for the final series before the Christmas break taking on A21 Academy from Windsor Ontario Thursday night at 7pm and Friday at 1pm at the Taffy Abel Arena

Indians battle in three tough games with the Madison Capitals

Friday night in the first game of the three games series the Indians opened the scoring late in the first period when Sabre Koleber won the battle for the rebound in front of the net scoring, assisted by Brayden Grange and Gabe Fisher.  The second period both teams played even with no one able to score, however in the third Drew Dellies beat their netminder high for Grange and Peirson Zittel to go up two and then less than a minute later Evan Hoglund lit the lamp from Grange to put the Indians up 3-0.  Madison rallied back to score, but with their net empty Koleber picked up a pass from Grange and Fisher scoring his second of the game for the final score of 4-1.  Justin Bamberger earned the victory in net.

Saturday it was the Capitals that start the scoring in the first period, then adding two more before Luke Jimenez won the race for the puck then beating their netminder to get the Indians on the board.  Madison Capitalized on a late powerplay to go back up 3 and in the third neither team could generate any goals for a final of 4-1 Capitals.  Cam Labadie had the duties in net.

Sunday morning in the final game of the series Madison scored first again midway through the first period, but Domick Cicco found a rebound and put it behind their goalie to even the score, assists went to Caden McDonald and Zach Sweitzer.  The second period had both teams up and down the ice without scoring sending the game into the third period tied at 1.  The Capitals generated two goals within 1:30 midway through the third period to get up 3-1, the Indians pressed hard but it wasnt until the 37 second mark with the extra attacker Kyle Stevens tipped an Owen Hendrikson shot with McDonald also assisting to make it a one goal game and time ran out give the Madison the  3-2 win.  Justin Bamberger was between the pipes for the Indians.

The Indians will now get on the road to Troy Michigan for the MAHA Tier 1 winter showcase next Friday facing Honeybaked, Bigby, and Victory Honda.

Soo Indians to take on Madison Capitols At Home December 2-4, 2022

The Madison Capitols will be heading to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan for a three game series against the Hometown Soo Indians Midget AAA Team.  Friday, December 2; Saturday, December 3; and Sunday, December 4.

Indians take two wins and two ties on the road in Indianapolis

The Indians open the four game road trip against the Lincoln Stars.  The Stars opened the scoring to take the lead until Evan Hoglund scored from Dominick Cicco and Gabe Fisher late in the period, Luke Jimenez gave the Indians the lead midway through the second period from Kyle Steven and Owen Hendrikson, but the Stars evened it back up before the end of the period.  In the third Sabre Koleber put the Indians ahead again from Caden McDonald on a power play, however midway through the period Lincoln scored again to knot the game at 3 a for a final score.

The second game had the Indians taking on the home team the Indy Jr Fuel.  Indy got on the board first and carried the lead into the second period before until Caden McDonald capitalized from Brayden Grange and Sabre Koleber on power play to even the score, then Gabe Fisher put the Indians ahead on a shot from the point set up by Drew Dellies for the lead.  Lucca Weinkauf score the third goal for the tribe putting them up 2 goals from McDonald and Koleber.  In the third Indy added another goal but the Indians earned the 3-2 win.  Cam Labadie took the win in net.

In the Third game was rematch agianst the Lincoln Stars, this time the Indians took the lead first in the second period on power play goal by Brayden Grange from Evan Hoglund and Owen Hendrikson.  Drew Dellies added to the lead in the third period from Gabe Fisher and Lucca Weinkauf, Weinkauf added a goal of his own from Koleber to solify the 3-0 win.  Justin Bamberger shut the door in net earning the win and shutout.

The final game was against the Indy Jr Fuel and this time Drew Dellies scored first for the Indians unassisted in the first period, then Caden McDonald added to the lead in the second period from Sabre Koleber for a two goal lead.  Indy got back to within one but then Pierson Zittel scored on a shot to regain the lead, however Indy fought back late in the second period and then tied the game late in the third period for 3-3 score.

The Indians had the Thanksgiving weekend off and have added three game this weekend at home against the Madison Capitals.  Game times will be Friday 6:30pm at the Pullar Staduim, Saturday 4:30pm at the Pullar Staduim and the final game of the series will be Sunday 10am at the Taffy Abel Arena.

Indians drop a pair of games to Biggby 5-0, 4-2 over the weekend

Saturdays game saw the Indians fall behind midway through the first period and could not generate any offense as Biggby scored 5 unanswered goals for the 5-0 win.  On Sunday Biggby again scored the first two goals before Kyle Stevens broke the ice for the Indians assisted by Aedan Haapala and Jack Jimenez.  Biggby added another goal in the second to give them a 3-1 lead heading into the third period.  Gabe Fisher capitalized on a shot from the point on the power play late  in the third from Jack Jimenez, however with time winding down and the net empty Biggby managed to score securing the 4-2 win.  Justin Bamberger turned away 34 shots for the Indians.

The Indians will now go back on the road to Indianapolis Indiana to play the Indy Jr Fuel and Lincoln Stars during the weekend.
