Indians drop a pair of games to Little Caesars of the weekend 

This weekend the Indians dropped two games by identical scores to Little Caesars on Saturday and Sunday 4-1.  Saturdays games saw Caesars jumped out to a one goal lead in the first add another in the second and two in the third before Nick Castillo jumped into the rush and took a pass from Cooper Smyl to get the Indians on the board, but they couldn’t muster any more goals.  Gabe Rosek was in net for the Indians.
Sunday the teams played even through the first period, then each team added a goal in the second.  Luke Parry followed up on a shot by Adam Brzezecki and put the rebound in the net to knot the score and put the teams tied at the end of 2.  Nolan Dresch had the other assist on the goal.  In the third Caesars scored two more and an empty net goal to cement the win.  Dakota Meyer was between the pipes for the Indians.
The Indians will go back to work this week before heading to the Honeybaked Showcase in Detroit Friday.

Indians fall in two close games over the weekend

This weekend the Indians would battle with Meijer AAA in MAHA Tier 1 action, on Saturday both teams traded opportunities in the first period, but neither team could capitalize.  In the second Meijer took advantage of a turnover to the take the lead, the Indians tried to force the play the remainder of the game, however with the goalie out for the third period for the extra attacker the puck bounced out to the Meier player for an empty net goal and secured the win.  Gabe Roses played outstanding for the Indians allowing one goal on 30 shots.
Sundays game was much the same through the first half of the game until Luke Parry beat the defenseman wide and put a backhand shot past the Meijer netminder for the 1-0 lead.  The Indians held the lead until late in the third period when Meijer scored on the power play with 4:16 remaining to even the score.  Through the remainder of the game and 5 minutes of 4 on 4 overtime the teams traded chances with no winner, therefore the game would be determined in a shoot out.  In the shoot out Meijer took advantage scoring 1 and the Indians were shut out giving the win to Meijer.  Dakota Meyer played excellent stopping 31 of 32 shots faced.
The Indians return to action next weekend at 3pm Saturday and 10am Sunday at the Taffy Abel arena when the take on Little Caesars.

Indians drop a pair to the Kings over the weekend

This weekend the Indians matched up against the Thunder Bay Kings, Saturday saw the Kings jump to an early 3 goal lead in the first period, then added another in the second.  The Indians couldn’t mount a steady attack and were unable to score falling 4-0, Gabe Rosek played excellent in the losing effort.

 

Sunday mornings game started with each team trading opportunities but neither goaltender would break to allow a goal.  Late in the second Thunder Bay got on the board with a deflected shot from the point to take the lead, then added a second goal in the third period to secure the win and the weekend sweep.  Dakota Meyer played excellent between the pipes.

 

The Indians will back at the Taffy Abel next weekend 3pm Saturday and 10am Sunday to take on Meier AAA from Lansing MI.

Indians take the shootout win over Little Caesars

The third game of the Indians three game road trip to Windsor and Detroit had the them against Little 
Caesars in a Michigan Amatuer Hockey Association Tier 1 league play.  Caesars opened the scoring in the first period on a power play to take the lead, from that point on both teams played even until the 2 minute mark of the third period when Luke Parry found the rebound in front of the Caesars netminder and put it over his shoulder to knot the game at one a piece, assist on the goal went to Cooper Smyl.  The remainder of regulation ended with the score 1-1.  In the 5 minute four on four overtime neither team could break the net and therefore the game would be decided in a three man shot out.  The Indians first shooter Domenick Evtimov beat the netminder low, then Caesars scored to even it again, the second shooter Nick Castillo scored on a quick move to put the Indians back in front again.  Dakota Meyer shut the door on the next shooter and Cooper Smyl secured the win on a nice move putting the puck high behind the netminder and taking the win.  Dakota Meyer played outstanding between the pipes.
The Indians return home next weekend to take on the Thunder Bay Kings in an exhibition series at the Taffy Abel Arena, Saturday 6pm and Sunday 10am.

A21 Academy takes two from the Indians

The weekend games saw the Indians traveling to Windsor Ontario to play A21 Academy.  Friday A21 took the early lead in the first period before Trevor Prince scored from Isaac Ellingson and Cooper Smyl with 25 seconds remaining in the period.  The second period had both teams trade opportunities but neither scored, the third saw the Indians take the lead when Cooper Smyl scored from the top of the circle.  Late in the period Warner Young scored on a short handed rush giving the Indians a two goal lead, from that point on the Indians saw all the bounces go the wrong way as A21 score three unanswered goals in the last five minutes with the winning goal at 4.7 seconds remaining to take the win.  Dakota Meyer was in net for the Indians.
Saturday nights game had the Indians take the early lead on the first shift when Adam Brzezicki and Colton Hayes set up Cody Carlson in the slot for the early lead, A21 fought back to tie the game and then jumped out to a 4-1 lead before Warner Young scored from Nick Castillo and Cody Carlson to cut the lead in half.  A21 add a fifth goal to secure the win and sweep the weekend series, Gabe Rosek was in the net for Indians.
The Indians travel back over the Ambassador Bridge to take on Little Caesars tomorrow morning at 11am at the Little Caesars Arena at 11am.
